Thank you for your interest in the International School of Stuttgart (ISS). Our school was founded in 1985 and has grown steadily ever since. Today, more than 900 students representing around 50 different nationalities are educated on two separate campuses; one situated in Stuttgart Degerloch and one situated in Sindelfingen, both offering outstanding education to internationally minded families in the Stuttgart region.

ISS is a fully accredited IB World School, offering three IB programmes, PYP, MYP and DP. Every year we welcome many new internationally mobile families to Stuttgart and to our school, helping them to transition and to integrate as quickly as possible.

One important and distinctive feature of ourIBDiploma program is thatISSallows any student interestedto try. Unlike other schools that are highly selective, we allow all students to participate in the full program. We do counsel some to focus onISSDiploma, which is also a rigorous program, but in the end, all of our 11thand 12thgrade courses areIBDiploma courses, so nomatter which program a student choosesit is a demandingone.

Both in the DP and MYP programme, our students regularly perform above the world average. Result updates are published annually in the ISS Academic Profile.

Every country structures its education system differently. From grades and year levels to elementary and primary, the terms can vary greatly and cause confusion for parents. These charts provide a comparison of the major education systems, the grade/year level equivalents for each, and the age of the students within those levels. Students at ISS are placed in year levels based on their age. These year levels in turn form the three programmes of the International Baccalaureate: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP). Please click here for the overview.

ISSprovides anintensive and individual EAL (English as an Additional Language) program. The school acknowledges the importance of mother tongue maintenance and aims to support the students in developing their home language skills as much as possible.
